About The Position

A Medical Assistant in the General Surgery Clinic will complete clinical and administrative tasks. This role works alongside the provider to ensure patient care and smooth clinic operations. The Medical Assistant is the first point of patient contact, responsible for rooming and preparing patients according to clinic-specific checklists or procedures. Key duties include measuring vital signs (weight, height, oxygen saturation, respiration, temperature, pulse, blood pressure), completing required patient care documentation (Medical Histories, referral requests), and assisting with day-to-day clinic operations to ensure optimal patient care, including supporting teammates and providers as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • For Credentialed Medical Assistant: Credentialed as a Medical Assistant from an approved Munson Healthcare Credentialing Organization.
  • For Non-Credentialed Medical Assistant: One year (1) relevant experience working in a physician practice or similar healthcare setting in a provider/patient support role OR Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program approved by Munson Healthcare.
  • BLS certification preferred and must be obtained within 90 days of hire and maintained.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Complete clinical and administrative tasks within the clinic.
  • Work alongside the provider to ensure patient care and smooth clinic operations.
  • Room and prepare patients according to clinic specific checklists or procedures.
  • Measure patient weight, height, oxygen saturation, respiration, temperature, pulse (manual and automatic), and blood pressure (manual and automatic).
  • Perform other patient care duties as required based on clinic needs.
  • Complete required patient care documentation including Medical Histories and referral requests.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations for optimal patient care.
  • Assist fellow teammates and providers when necessary.
