About The Position

This role involves greeting patients, preparing them for examinations, and screening them for necessary information. The Medical Assistant will administer prescribed medications and treatments according to licensed practical nursing standards. They will also maintain and prepare equipment, assist physicians during treatments, and handle patient telephone inquiries regarding test results, medications, and treatment instructions. Additionally, the role includes arranging for hospitalizations, referrals, or special procedures, maintaining a clean work area, and sterilizing medical instruments.

Requirements

Graduate of a medical assistant program.
MA candidates must be able to obtain certification.
Prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination.
Screens patients for appropriate information.
Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance within the scope of the licensed practical nursing standards.
Maintains and assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
Handles telephone inquiries from patients regarding test results, medications and treatment instructions as directed by the physician.
Arranges for hospitalization, referrals, or performance of special procedures for patients.
Maintains a clean, attractive work area and keeps clinical areas stocked with appropriate medical supplies.
Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments, surgical trays, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
