About The Position

This recruitment is for a Temporary Full-time Medical Assistant (Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm) position based out of our Laguna Hills Multispeciality location. The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community. This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring are based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate's experience matches the assignment requirements. Certain temporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver’s License for driving university vehicles. The majority of our temporary positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Diploma, Certificate of Competency, or equivalent Medical Assisting Clinical/Back Office certification.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and ability to perform essential clinical and administrative duties.
  • Current BLS certification from the AHA upon hire.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, customer service skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with diverse patient populations.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory or outpatient care setting.
  • Phlebotomy certification and experience performing specimen collection.
  • Experience using EPIC and scheduling systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of university or academic medical center policies, procedures, and workflows, with flexibility to work occasional weekends or holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and other clinical information in EPIC.
  • Assist providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, and patient education.
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating clinic workflows.
  • Support clinic operations by maintaining supplies, ensuring compliance with dress code and safety standards, and assisting with UC Learning and departmental requirements.
