Medical Assistant - Employee Health
About The Position
Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant in our Employee Health office. This unit is open to new grads or experienced candidates and is responsible for the health and wellness of Sentara employees. Responsibilities include pre-placement exams, annual health assessments, flu vaccines/immunizations, return to work tests, and fitness for duty evaluations. The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- BLS certification (Required within 90 days).
- Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT) required.
- 1 year of relevant clinical experience required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with blood draws and vaccines.
- Experience with Respiratory Fit testing.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations.
- Works under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- Conducts pre-placement exams.
- Performs annual health assessments.
- Administers flu vaccines/immunizations.
- Conducts return to work tests.
- Performs fitness for duty evaluations.
