About The Position

Lone Star Circle of Care is seeking Medical Assistants who are passionate about making a difference in the community and providing exceptional, equitable patient care. Medical Assistants perform clerical duties and assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of licensed medical and/or nursing professionals. They work directly with patients to support the organization’s goal of healthier communities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Team player personality.
• Time management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Medical Assistant from a certifying body recognized by Lone Star Circle of Care in its reasonable discretion.
• Prior professional experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience using electronic medical records (EMR).
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and accurately document patient histories, patient communications, and clinical treatments.
• Obtain and measure vital signs and document information in patients’ charts.
• Maintain examination and treatment rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and managing inventory of medical supplies and materials.
• Perform routine diagnostic and laboratory tests.
• Administer medications as ordered by licensed medical and/or nursing staff.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients under the direction of licensed medical and/or nursing staff.
