About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) in Primary Care at MIT Health assists physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses with patient evaluation, management, and treatment. This role serves as the primary liaison between clinical staff and patients, playing an active role in preparing for daily operations and implementing key activities. The MA leads twice-daily huddle sessions to ensure effective communication of pertinent patient information among clinical staff and availability of necessary materials for efficient care delivery. Additionally, the MA manages HealtheLife requests, ensures patients understand medical treatment information, and follows up with patients to ensure compliance with treatment plans.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant program or has obtained a Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA)
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in a physician office
  • Current active BLS certification (with in-person component)
  • Ability to move 15 pounds or more, including but not limited to the placement of infants and children on examination tables or weighing scales

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses with evaluation, management, and treatment of patients.

  • Implement key activities for patient care.
  • Lead twice daily huddle sessions to communicate pertinent patient information between clinical staff.
  • Ensure all appropriate materials are available for effective and efficient care delivery.
  • Manage HealtheLife requests.
  • Ensure the patient comprehends medical treatment information provided by each provider.
  • Use the best medium to follow up with each patient to ensure treatment plan compliance.
