About The Position

NOMS Healthcare is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for their Family Practice department. The medical assistant will be responsible for assisting providers with patient care, managing patient charts, scheduling appointments, and aiding with in-office procedures. Additional duties may include supporting the front desk with clerical tasks. The ideal candidate will project a positive image of the medical office.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification required (CMA/ RMA/ ABR-OE)
  • Minimum of one-year work experience in a public contact job
  • Knowledge of the health care field
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and their families
  • Skill in performing tasks correctly
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs and effectively sharing information
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor
  • Ability to be flexible and handle changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate clearly

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of medical assisting program preferred
  • Preferable experience in a medical office environment

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting patients with mobility and personal care, collecting patient history, performing screenings, assisting physicians/nurses with procedures, charting, relaying instructions, and answering calls.
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving patient records, obtaining reports and referral information, completing forms, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance and demographics, and managing charts.
  • Fulfill environmental responsibilities including setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning exam/procedure rooms and equipment, maintaining the sterilizer, ordering and restocking supplies.
  • Fulfill organizational responsibilities including respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and communicating patient or staff issues to supervisors.
