About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. The MA will conduct patient interviews, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information on patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The MA will also draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Also prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. The MA may also perform administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.

Requirements

  • High School or GED with Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Ability to perform point-of-care testing, draw and collect blood specimens, and prepare for laboratory processing.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • BLS (CPR) Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients and visitors with information and issues.
  • Notifies appropriate staff members of problems requiring prompt intervention
  • Obtains patient report communicates with nursing staff regarding patient care/changes in condition.
  • Informs nurses of patient requests or complaints
  • Documents patient care activities/tasks, including vital signs, activities of daily life (ADL), wave tests, and input and output (I&Os).
  • Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with activities.
  • Monitors and maintains adequate levels of supplies inside and outside of rooms.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examinations.
  • Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed.
  • Serves as resources person to support department members in performance of duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
