About The Position

Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties, including related support services. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring medical assistant tasks are completed efficiently. It involves coordinating referrals, patient communication, administering injections, assisting with non-invasive procedures like EKGs and screenings, and obtaining patient medical history and vital signs. The position also requires maintaining medical supply inventory, registering patients, verifying insurance, completing end-of-day reconciliation reports, and preparing for clinic operations. Providing exceptional customer service and performing other related duties are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification
  • Knowledgeable of personal computers
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association
  • Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring timely and efficient completion of medical assistant tasks.
  • Assists in the coordination of referrals and patient communication.
  • Administers injections and assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, and waive testing.
  • Assists with medical examinations within the medical assistant scope of practice.
  • Obtains patient medical history and vital signs, ensuring quality metrics are met and documented in compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies.
  • Participates in and prepares for Center internal/external audits.
  • Maintains inventory of medical, immunization, and operating supplies.
  • Ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned, and stocks required medical supplies in exam rooms.
  • Registers patients, updates patient information, and performs data entry of demographics.
  • Verifies and activates appropriate patient insurance plans.
  • Ensures accurate posting of encounter data to appropriate funding/insurance plans.
  • Completes end-of-day reconciliation reports, ensuring cash collected matches system reports and is secured and deposited.
  • Prepares for next day clinic by identifying appointment types, chart preparation, updating proof of income, pre-registering patients, and screening for program eligibility.
  • Provides exceptional customer service internally and externally, greeting customers and addressing concerns.
  • Assists with other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
