About The Position

The medical assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties to support healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, recording patient history, and managing medical records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training course at a vocational/technical school.
  • Proof and maintenance of active RMA or CMA throughout employment required.
  • Must have and maintain BLS certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and standard office equipment: Windows, MS Office, and email

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one-year work experience, preferred.
  • At least 1 year experience with crises intervention, medical assistance, and/or homelessness services preferred
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Taking and recording patient vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate.
  • Measuring and recording patient medical history and personal information.
  • Administering medications.
  • Scheduling patient appointments and managing the check-in/check-out process.
  • Maintaining and updating patient medical records and electronic health records (EHR) into homeless management information system (HMIS).
  • Handling phone calls and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Maintaining inventory and ordering medical supplies.
  • Preparing patient charts and completing paperwork.
