About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) Specialty Services position at Wythe County Community Hospital is a full-time, in-person role. The hospital is part of Lifepoint Health, a healthcare network focused on community-based care. As an MA, you will perform routine clinical and administrative duties to support assigned areas or offices, assisting with patient assessments and treatments under physician or nurse supervision. This role involves performing basic diagnostic procedures, specimen collection, monitoring patient conditions, documenting care, maintaining equipment and supplies, and handling administrative tasks like filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration. Wythe County Community Hospital is a 100-bed acute care facility with a long history of providing care and recognized for its quality and safety.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A graduate of an accredited medical assistant program or equivalent.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required License: CCMA, CMA, or RMA
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a physician or nurse, assists with performing patient assessments and treatments.
Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition.
Documents patient care given.
Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
Maintains examination areas.
Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
