Medical Assistant - FLOAT - PRIMARY CARE SERVICES- FULL TIME- Dayshift
About The Position
Provides medical assistant services to patients and families, assists physicians and mid-level practitioners (providers) with patient care. Performs all clinical functions in a physician’s office, including but not limited to: Assisting the physician with treatments, obtaining and processing specimens, maintaining medical information and filing/scanning, maintaining sample supplies, ordering and maintaining clinical supplies, patient education, obtaining histories and vitals, triaging patient calls, prescription refills, callbacks for results as per physician direction, prior authorizations, telephone answering, and appointment scheduling.
Requirements
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to accurately type and be efficient with data entry equipment
- Ability to apply appropriate rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Knowledge of computers is a necessity
- Ability to prioritize activities, organize work, and problem-solve
- Above average to excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with the public sector by telephone and in person
- Ability to deal with anxious and angry people
- Ability to communicate with Administrative Staff, Managers, Attorneys, Physicians, and all hospital staff with due respect and tact
- Understanding of confidentiality rules is a must without exception
- Current BLS Healthcare Provider card

- Graduate of a medical assistant program
- Sufficient experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with treatments
