This PRN (as needed) Medical Assistant position at Atrium Health Dermatology SouthPark offers flexible scheduling. The role involves adhering to the Medical Assistant scope of practice, following all policies and procedures, and maintaining competency. Responsibilities include patient rooming tasks such as taking vital signs, reconciling medications, documenting medical history, performing health maintenance checks, reviewing allergies, and conducting screenings (e.g., depression, suicide, falls, social drivers of health). The Medical Assistant will assist providers with procedures, perform laboratory duties including venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, packing, and results tracking. They will also perform Point of Care testing (POCT) and complete CLIA-waived laboratory tests. Medication and vaccine administration will be done safely according to the rights of medication administration. Additional duties may include medication refills, insurance authorizations, completing safety/regulatory logs, patient messaging, ordering supplies, scheduling appointments, and processing referrals. Cross-training for duties relevant to specialty or clinic practice is expected. The role requires effective and timely communication, teamwork, appropriate escalation, maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring instruments and equipment are clean and functional, and keeping areas stocked. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
