Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications (must meet one of the following): Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution (diploma or certificate), OR Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), OR Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an urgent care or ER/hospital setting
  • Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and general clinical procedures
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR); EPIC preferred
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Positive, proactive approach to patient care and collaboration

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparing patients for examinations and treatments, ensuring they are comfortable and well-informed.
  • Perform triage and take vital signs accurately.
  • Obtain and document detailed patient history in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in a timely manner.
  • Collect routine laboratory specimens, including blood, urine, and oral swabs.
  • Administer medications and non-intravenous injections, including intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections.
  • Suture and staple removal and perform splinting when necessary.
  • Perform basic clinical, aseptic, and laboratory procedures to support patient care.
  • Assist with our Occupational Medicine services, including drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, and pulmonary function testing, while adhering to company protocols.
  • Enforce and maintain healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
  • Perform office procedures and general administrative tasks; proficiently operate office medical equipment.
  • Oversee compliance with quality assurance programs, CLIA waived laboratory requirements, and patient result trackers.
  • Support staffing and operational needs by traveling to other Corewell Health Urgent Care locations as required.
