Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. The Medical Assistant will perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting and regulating agencies. They will prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation, send outside labs to appropriate facilities, and maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists. The role involves obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examination, receiving and documenting lab reports, and assisting physicians with procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams. Scheduling outside testing, referrals, and hospital admissions may also be required. The Medical Assistant is responsible for thorough documentation in the medical record, preparing encounter forms for billing, and documenting all QC and QA corrective actions. They will also maintain adequate supply inventory, initiate troubleshooting for instrument malfunctions, and perform EKG testing. Compliance with state and federal laws, safety guidelines, and AON policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, is essential. This role may involve training new employees and working at any AON location, including overtime when required.
