About The Position

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Medical Assistant to join our School Based Health Clinic. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The UNMMG School Based Health Center (SBHC) Program provides integrated medical and behavioral health services in six of the Albuquerque Public Schools. Experience with adolescent aged children will be a plus. If you are interested in working with children and are enthusiastic, we would like to meet you and invite you to apply for our position. The UNM School-Based Health Center (SBHC) program is co-sponsored by the UNM Medical Group and UNM Health Sciences Center. SBHC facilitates and supports schools, families and communities in addressing the social, physical and emotional needs of students so they can reach their full potential. SBHC connects students to a larger health care system that can serve as a medical home, offering lifelong health care. SBHC providers focus on preventive health care and educating students on healthy lifestyle choices. Our goal is to enhance healthy youth development and reduce barriers to learning.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Medical Assistant Program Graduate Certificate
BLS certification

Responsibilities

Conducts patient registration, verifies demographics, and schedules appointments in a UNMMG Ambulatory Clinic.
Manages insurance processes, including verifying benefits, obtaining referrals, and handling prior authorizations.
Performs patient check-in/check-out, collects co-pays, and gathers patient data and medical history.
