Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification required (CMA/ RMA/ ABR-OE)
  • Minimum of one-year work experience in public contact job, preferably in a medical office environment
  • Knowledge of the health care field
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and their families
  • Skill in performing tasks correctly
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs and effectively sharing information with patients and their families
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor
  • Ability to be flexible and handle changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring for others
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with physicians, co-workers, patients and patient’s families

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of medical assisting program preferred
  • EPIC & Scribe experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assisting providers with patient care, chart management, and scheduling appointments.
  • Assisting with in-office procedures.
  • Assisting the front desk with clerical duties when needed.
  • Complying with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Fulfilling patient care responsibilities such as checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting patients with mobility and dressing, collecting patient history, performing screenings, assisting physicians/nurses with procedures, charting, relaying instructions, and answering calls.
  • Fulfilling clerical responsibilities such as sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining reports, completing forms, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and managing charts.
  • Fulfilling environmental responsibilities such as setting up instruments, cleaning rooms and equipment, cleaning sterilizers, ordering and storing supplies, and restocking exam rooms.
  • Fulfilling organizational responsibilities such as respecting patient rights, responding to emergency codes, and reporting problems to supervisors.
