About The Position

Open Door Health Services is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant at 333 S. Madison St. in Muncie, Indiana. As an Open Door Medical Assistant, you will be part of a supportive, interdisciplinary team providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals and families. Medical assistants perform a variety of patient care activities to support and assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical staff. No clinical experience is necessary if you are certified by an accredited medical assistant program. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, Open Door Health Services provides comprehensive primary, urgent, preventive, and select specialty services and social support programs for individuals and families, regardless of their ability to pay. Requirements

Medical assistant certification or at least one year work experience in healthcare.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
At least one year of work experience in healthcare clinic/office if not certified.
CPR & first aid certification.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in Family Practice/OB.
MA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare the patient for the provider by getting vital signs and the patient’s primary complaint.
Conduct additional testing and screenings (ex. UA dipstick, glucose reading, pregnancy testing, vision and hearing).
Brief provider on patient’s data and status.
Administer prescribed medications, immunizations and treatments as ordered.
Assist in screening telephone calls for referrals, lab results and prescription refills.
Performing quality checks and sterilizing, cleaning, and stocking exam rooms.
