About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. They prepare patients during office visits and assist patients and family members before, during, and after a doctor’s visit. The role involves preparing patients for examination and assisting providers during treatment/procedures, examinations, and testing. Responsibilities include preparing, restocking, and sterilizing examination rooms, procedure rooms, and lab areas. The Medical Assistant will record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint, and measure, record, and document vital signs. They may also perform phlebotomy, injections, and other specimen collection as directed by the provider. Educating patients by providing information and instructions, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, and sterilizing medical instruments are also key duties. The Medical Assistant will relay messages between patients and front office staff to providers, represent the office professionally, and treat all customers courteously. Participation in team and professional development activities, attending required meetings, and embodying the Women’s Care mission and core values are expected. Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines is mandatory. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 120 days of employment.
  • To be eligible for employment and to obtain an MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge.
  • Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women’s Care training.
  • Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
  • Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
  • Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members, both written and verbally.
  • Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred
  • Current CPR and/or BLS certification preferred

  • Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Demonstrate and embody the Women’s Care mission and core values.
