About The Position

We are currently looking for a Medical Assistant to fill a Full-time position at our Beavercreek Family Practice Office. We are seeking individuals who share our passion for providing exceptional quality health care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of MA program or equivalent training and experience.
  • Experience with EHR systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification in CPR preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in the medical office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the physician with procedures and treatments as required, including pap/pelvic exams, joint aspirations, wound care, and minor office procedures.
  • Perform Cardiology tasks such as preparing patients for treadmills, instructing and observing patients, monitoring machines, recording data during tests, and assisting with pacemaker clinic and tilt table testing.
  • Perform general clinical duties including taking vital signs, administering injections, venipuncture, sterile/clean dressing changes, suture removal, ear/eye irrigations, urine dips, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and taking x-rays as required.
  • Assist in patient management, including escorting patients to exam rooms, scheduling tests/procedures, preparing referrals, obtaining insurance authorization, reviewing test results, communicating results to physicians and patients, and maintaining patient schedules.
  • Manage clinical phone calls in a timely manner, including prescription refill requests, referral requests, relaying physician messages, and handling patient call requests.
  • Properly document all patient care according to guidelines in policy.
  • Follow all outlined processes for chronic care patients (e.g., HTN, Diabetes) and ensure timely completion of documentation for accurate patient summary information.
  • Adhere to all administrative policies, clinical procedures, office processes, protocols, and standing orders to ensure consistency in patient care.
  • Identify and act on patient care needs, such as dimming lights or keeping the area quiet for patients experiencing difficult symptoms.
  • Anticipate patient needs based on disease processes and coordinate care accordingly (e.g., for HTN, DM patients).
  • Coordinate patient care between facilities and referral sources, ensuring appropriate paperwork and medical information is sent and tracking that consult reports are received and placed in the patient's chart.
  • Review outstanding orders during pre-visit review and obtain critical data from referral sources, including lab and diagnostic test results (e.g., mammogram, colonoscopy) and specialty office consult reports.
  • Work overdue orders 'work list' to identify gaps in patient care and report these gaps to the appropriate care team for follow-up.
  • Proactively contact patient populations identified with specific health requirements for care based on their conditions, including monitoring patients with missed appointments.
  • Communicate and document patient care needs via the electronic health record (EHR) tool.
  • Thoroughly review all EHR-based patient communication to ensure all needs and follow-up items are addressed.
  • Support teamwork by communicating patient needs among care team members.
  • Take ownership and be accountable for actions.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned to meet business needs.
