Medical Assistants will perform a variety of duties related to patient care, electronic health records, and clinic operations. Requirements

  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within the first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three (3) months of hire.

  • Clinic/physician office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize urgent/emergent patient needs and initiate appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Function within payor regulations and clinic procedures.
  • Manage the electronic medical record, including test results, filing, creation, and charging.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and utilize the healthcare team for patient assessment.
  • Assess and address patient and family learning needs, providing accurate information.
  • Evaluate patient and family understanding of treatment plans and instructions.
  • Assist with procedures, exams, and operation of diagnostic equipment (e.g., EKG, spirometry, tympanometry).
  • Maintain aseptic technique for preparation, procedures, and medication administration.
  • Accurately document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record.
  • Report results and pertinent information to patients and healthcare team members.
  • Perform basic medical assistant functions such as taking vitals, rooming patients, assisting with procedures, administering immunizations and medication injections, under provider supervision.
  • Maintain professional appearance of patient exam and procedure rooms.
  • Maintain supplies in assigned areas.
