About The Position

Provides direct and indirect support to the clinician in the delivery of patient care. The CMA/MA prepares the exam room, chart, and patient to be seen by the practitioner and performs/implements orders for diagnostic tests. CMA/MA accurately administers medications, including immunizations by all routes except IV. CMA/MA routinely arranges outside referral appointments and provides patient education under the direction of the clinician when appropriate. The CMA/MA must function under the direct supervision of a physician, RN, or midlevel practitioner. The CMA/MA is expected to consult frequently with the supervising practitioner and to inform the clinician of the information given or actions taken. Care provided, including but not limited to lab specimen collections, injections, phlebotomy, in-house lab tests, vaccines, screenings, and referrals.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (for CMA).
  • Completion as a Certified Medical Assistant (for CMA).
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Training Program or 6 months commensurate work experience as a Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting (for MA).
  • 1-3 months of related experience (for CMA).
  • 1-3 months of related experience if program completed, or 6 months if program not completed (for MA).
  • CPR Certification (Required for both CMA and MA).
  • Current Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (Required for CMA).
  • Proof of certificate of completion from the Medical Assistant Training Program or copy of High School Diploma or GED if using commensurate work experience (Required for MA).
  • Must possess a valid state Driver's license and automobile insurance with reliable transportation (Required for both CMA and MA).

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) (Preferred for CMA/MA).
  • 3-6 months of related experience (Preferred for CMA).
  • 3-6 months of related experience (Preferred for MA).
