About The Position

UW Medical Center-Montlake - Women's Health at Roosevelt has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a per diem position with 2-3 working shifts per week, typically from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The department provides specialized care for complex gynecology concerns, including dysplasia and HPV disease, family planning for medically complex patients, PCOS diagnosis and treatment, endometriosis diagnosis and treatment, gynecologic surgery consultation, and pediatric and adolescent gynecology services. The MA-C will room patients, take vital signs, reconcile records, perform injections, prepare and clean exam rooms, submit medication prior authorizations, recognize and report symptoms of common medical illnesses, act as a liaison between patient and providers, assist with procedures and exams, perform point-of-care testing, and transport patients as required. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
