The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting physician, PA or NP with clerical duties, patient flow, patient care and procedures. This role involves preparing and cleaning examination rooms, maintaining efficient patient flow, ensuring proper patient preparation, and providing care consistent with the patient's age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs. The MA will also handle telephone communication, schedule appointments, stock examination rooms, and assist with supply ordering. Responsibilities include reconciling encounters, communicating issues to supervisors, and performing duties within the scope of practice. Specific tasks include obtaining vital signs, updating medication lists and allergies in the EHR, entering orders, scheduling appointments, providing referrals, adhering to safety precautions, and maintaining proficiency with department equipment. The role also facilitates transitions of care and requires flexibility with work schedules, recognizing and performing unassigned duties, and providing scribing services.
