About The Position
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join our team at HeartPlace located in Bedford, TX to assist Provider(s) in daily operations of his/her clinic and patient care.
Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program is required
- Knowledge in medical terminology
- Ability to effectively communicate
Nice To Haves
- Cardiac Experience is preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Records vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height in patients’ charts.
- Work with the medical assistant tech to ensure patients are roomed in a timely manner
- Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test
- Fill out testing orders per physician
- Send out prescriptions per physician orders
- Orders & explain testing to the patient
- Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests
- Set up procedures with hospitals to include filling out hospital form and faxing them back
- Review procedure and instructions with the patient
- Escort patients to check-out
- Check voicemails & enter messages into eCW
- Return patient calls/tasks, to acknowledge receipt of the voicemail, and that an answer is being sought
- Ensure that charts have been checked, and the proper paperwork is included
- Prepare bag for travel to satellite clinics
- Safeguard the privacy of patient health information
- Other related duties as assigned
