About The Position

The Medical Assistant works under the general direction of the Physician or Nurse, providing care to individuals and families as instructed by the Physician / Physician Assistant. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
  • 2+ years of professional medical assisting in a practice setting is required.
  • National/Registered Medical Assistant Certification required
  • Valid CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality and will use complete discretion when discussing patient information.
  • Implement patient care under the guidance and direction of all physicians, Practice Manager and Back Office Coordinator.
  • Screen phone calls. Will function as a patient screener only and will not make medical decisions during the triage process. Any triage phone call or face-to-face triage situation requiring a medical decision will be immediately referred to a physician.
  • Assists physicians in providing nursing care to patients in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
  • Takes patient history and vitals.
  • Rechecks BP if abnormal
  • Cast/splint removal when needed
  • Cast/splint patient when needed
  • Staple/suture removal when needed
  • Check faxes routinely
  • Complete FMLA paperwork
  • Chart prep
  • Enter/surgial history into the EMR
  • Scan paperwork / test results
  • Clear out in baskets and MyChart messages
  • Performs additional tasks, special projects and/or duties as assigned.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
