WellSpace's crisis programs are accredited by the American Association of Suicidology and the International Council for Helplines. Position Summary Provides patient care in the office setting. Provides care that meets the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and /or physician. Maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and office policies, procedures and standards. Communicates with physicians and team members about patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant training/certification preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Current CPR or CPR/AED certification (must be completed within 90 days of hire).
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing and demonstrate a high level of listening skills.
  • Excellent customer service experience including active listening, problem solving, and the ability to remain calm in emotional or stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of patient care, addiction treatment and mental health disorders.
  • Knowledge of Community resources including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and the county’s General Assistance Program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the provision of services for the underserved and sensitivity working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins; disabled, homeless, substance users, HIV (AIDS) infected, and/or physiologically impaired.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional relationships.
  • Maintain detailed records.
  • Computer (PC) literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email and database software.
  • Commitment to HIPAA and ability to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
  • Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
  • Must be willing to successfully complete the credentialing process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medical assistant duties, preparing rooms, rooming patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, taking temperatures and performing venipuncture and immunizations.
  • Encourage patient’s wellbeing through health promotion.
  • Refer patients to primary healthcare team, as appropriate.
  • Keep accurate records for reporting to various funding and inspecting agencies.
  • Maintain immunization files for the county registry.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the medical assistant's scope of practice.
  • May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
