About The Position

Hope House Health & Living Center is seeking a compassionate and adaptable Medical Assistant who is passionate about making a difference. This role requires flexibility and empathy, as the Medical Assistant will support two providers and build trust with patients, many of whom are experiencing homelessness. The ideal candidate will be part of a care team that delivers thoughtful, respectful care, prioritizing dignity and access. This is a meaningful, community-centered role for someone passionate about serving others.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Evidence of Medical Assistant training including all the essential job functions, knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here in this job description, or MA Certification required.
  • Up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants, or CMA- Certification by the AAMA, or RMA- Certification by the AMT, or CCMA- Certification by the NHA. Or prepared to certify within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate empathy, strong communication, and sound clinical judgment while supporting patients and care teams.
  • Assist providers with patient care, treatments, and clinical decision-making to ensure smooth, high-quality visits in a primary care setting that supports the whole person.
  • Conduct chart reviews, manage medication refills, and support pre-visit planning and other clinical requests.
  • Room patients, maintain exam spaces, administer medications and vaccines, draw blood, and process labs under provider direction.
  • Support adherence to quality standards and help implement best practices across the clinic.
  • Collaborate across clinical and administrative teams to enhance patient experience and clinic workflows while ensuring patients feel heard and respected.
