About The Position

We are hiring a Medical Assistant for a Plastic Surgery Specialty Practice. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping patients, staying organized, and being part of a fast-paced, supportive team. The Medical Assistant will prepare patients for office visits, obtain pertinent patient information, document information in patient charts, and process patient telephone calls and correspondence. The position requires organizing and prioritizing duties to optimize efficiency and promote positive patient outcomes, and will involve scribing information on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical assisting normally associated with obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance is preferred
  • National Certification as a Medical Assistant a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient flow in the office and collaborates with the receptionist to ensure timely and efficient patient care.
  • Assists front office personnel by answering the telephone, scheduling patient appointments, and performing other tasks as needed.
  • Obtains pertinent history and enters it into the medical record, including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, and appropriate review of systems.
  • Serves as a scribe between patient and physician in treatment rooms, documenting all relevant information.
  • Ensures patients are provided with appropriate clothing in preparation for physical exams.
  • Triage patient telephone calls for lab results, prescription refills, and other clinical matters based on physician clinical pathways.
  • Processes and files all lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, and clinical notes in patients’ charts after physician review.
  • Ensures accurate and complete documentation on patient records and notifies providers and other departments of diagnostic testing results.
  • Maintains and organizes patient files in accordance with HIPPA and JCAHO regulations.
  • Monitors inventory and restocks supplies as necessary.
  • Provides age-specific care related to the patient’s unique physical and psychosocial needs.
  • Works with physicians to ensure completion of medical necessity forms, disability applications, and insurance-related documents.
