About The Position

Summit Spine and Joint Centers (SSJC) is expanding its reach to become the largest comprehensive spine and joint care provider in the Southeast. Integrated Pain Solutions, PLLC, the North Carolina division of SSJC, operates over 10 clinics and is continuously growing. We are dedicated to providing high-quality patient care through multi-modality treatment options and innovative care delivery models. We are looking for qualified individuals to join our team and contribute to exceptional patient care. The hours of operation vary by location, starting at 7:30 am. This role requires regular travel between our Southern Pines, Asheboro, Fayetteville, and Laurinburg, NC clinic locations, with mileage reimbursement provided for eligible travel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a medical office or clinical setting.
  • Ability to type at least 25 words per minute.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • The employee must communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively with patients, visitors, clinicians, coworkers, and vendors, including in busy, demanding, or stressful circumstances.
  • The employee must maintain professional composure and consistently perform assigned duties throughout the scheduled work period; manage routine workplace stressors and feedback without disrupting patient care, patient-facing operations, or coworkers’ work; and use established de-escalation and escalation procedures when appropriate.
  • The employee must exercise sound judgment; maintain appropriate workplace boundaries; receive and respond to routine feedback and direction; protect confidential patient and business information; and address patient or workplace concerns through established supervisory and safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college coursework preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records preferred.
  • Experience with pre-operative and post-operative patient care strongly preferred.
  • Experience assisting with fluoroscopy procedures or working in pain management, orthopedics, neurosurgery, or a surgical specialty is preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.
  • Fluoroscopy (MA/Fluoro) certification or eligibility to obtain certification is preferred where required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and obtain medical histories, including medications, allergies, past medical history, surgical history, family history, and social history.
  • Measure and document vital signs and other pertinent clinical information in the patient's medical record.
  • Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with patient examinations and in-office procedures.
  • Provide both pre-operative and post-operative patient care, including patient preparation, postoperative assessments, and discharge instructions.
  • Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, procedure preparation, postoperative expectations, and aftercare instructions.
  • Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, imaging, procedures, and surgeries as directed.
  • Assist with fluoroscopy (C-arm) procedures and maintain proficiency in medical assistant/fluoroscopy workflow while ensuring radiation safety protocols are followed.
  • Prepare examination and procedure rooms, ensuring they are clean, stocked, and appropriately equipped prior to patient visits.
  • Gather appropriate documentation and obtain required signatures to assist providers in treatment decisions.
  • Ensure incoming medical records are received, reviewed, and appropriately documented in the patient's chart before the visit.
  • Relay clinical instructions and medication orders to pharmacies via electronic medical record, phone, or fax.
  • Answer phones, relay messages to providers, and return patient phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Utilize basic office equipment, including telephones, scanners, copiers, fax machines, and electronic medical records.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
  • Contribute to team success by assisting with additional duties as assigned.
