About The Position

Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH), a long-established and highly respected healthcare provider and Federally Qualified Health Center with locations throughout Indian River County, FL is seeking a MA/Medical Assistant to join our patient care team in delivering excellence in clinical care across our seven medical sites. The Medical Assistant supports physicians and healthcare providers by delivering quality patient care, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring efficient daily clinic operations. This position is a float role and will travel among TCCH locations based on daily staffing needs.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for MD's and physician extenders by updating electronic health record, obtaining outside records or reports needed for the visit, greeting patients, placing patient in exam rooms and clarifying chief complaints, verifying current, medications, allergies and vital signs.
  • Verifies thoroughness/accuracy of patient electronic health record.
  • Receives instructions on next visit, education, medication, keeping appointments, etc. and explains to patient.
  • Accompanies patient to billing window and explains practitioner's information to front desk personnel.
  • Cleans and prepares exam room for patient exam, including setting up equipment and supplies.
  • Assists MD's and physician extenders during procedures.
  • Gives injections, medication treatments and performs routine laboratory tests.
  • Operates electrocardiogram, nebulizer, hearing and vision machines and other equipment instructed by medical provider.
  • Works with the outreach Director to provide medical screenings.
  • Cross covers in other medical areas as instructed by supervisor.
  • Photo copies, faxes and mails records.
  • Schedules patient referrals and diagnostic procedures.
  • Cleans, sterilizes and autoclaves instruments.
  • Makes telephone contact with patients and documents all patient encounters.
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials as needed.
  • Performs/Maintains quality controls for instrumentation.
  • Attends all meetings/educational functions as required.
