About The Position

Ozarks Community Hospital (OCH) in Neosho, MO, is looking for a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their Mt Vernon Clinic. The hospital's mission is to provide exceptional healthcare and preventive services with compassion, respect, and dignity, focusing on serving the underserved and improving access to care. The Medical Assistant will provide patient care in an office setting, addressing psychosocial, physical, and general care needs. They will manage patient and family communication, demonstrate initiative and responsibility, and adhere to professional expectations. This role operates under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, physician, and clinic manager, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. The MA will also communicate patient clinical status, including diagnostic results and symptoms, to physicians and team members.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Recertification required before expiration throughout employment.
  • Float positions require a Valid Driver's License.
  • If float, valid Driver's License required. This requires a Motor Vehicle Driving Record Background Check to be completed during the onboarding new hire process and throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of related experience working in a medical clinic or office, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care in the office setting.

  • Maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and office policies, procedures and standards.
  • Communicates with physicians and team members about patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
