Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • BLS certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)
  • Candidates with less than one year of Medical Assistant experience must hold one of the following certifications: CCMA – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA), CMA – Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA), RMA – Registered Medical Assistant (AMT), NCMA – National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT), NRCMA – Nationally Registered Medical Assistant (NAHP)
  • In lieu of a Medical Assistant certification, we will also accept: 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a hospital or urgent care setting, 1+ years of phlebotomy experience, Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN or RN), EMT – Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Candidates without an MA certification must obtain one within 15 months of hire
  • CPOE certification for order entry is required within two weeks of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred
  • Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Front desk or patient registration experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Register patients and verify insurance and documentation
  • Schedule appointments and process co-pays
  • Prepare patients for examination and record medical history
  • Perform vital signs and preliminary patient assessments
  • Conduct point-of-care testing (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
  • Assist providers with patient care and procedures
  • Maintain exam rooms, supplies, and medical records
  • Answer patient questions and coordinate referrals
  • Perform opening/closing duties and maintain equipment quality checks
  • Support a safe, organized, and patient-centered clinical environment
  • All other duties as assigned.
