About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) performs clinical and administrative duties under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner and within the scope of practice established by California law, organizational policies, and delegated clinical responsibilities. The MA supports safe, efficient, and patient-centered care by assisting with patient intake, clinical procedures, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, medication and immunization administration (when delegated and authorized), documentation, care coordination, and other assigned clinical support functions. The MA is responsible for maintaining competency in assigned duties and adhering to current organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Based on operational needs, the Medical Assistant may be required to float between clinic locations and travel to assigned sites. The MA may also perform designated administrative functions, including coordinating referrals and authorizations, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating with patients, providers, payers, and other departments to facilitate continuity of care. Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which may include a considerable amount of walking, and physical assistance for patients.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; fluent in English
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control and patient safety measures.
  • Adaptability and accuracy
  • Must have good visual acuity and motor coordination.
  • Strong clinical skills
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions.
  • Strong computer skills (data entry and typing)
  • Honest, dependable, and conscientious.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) computerized practice management and other record keeping systems
  • Ability to maintain composure when confronted with fast paced situations, excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in an environment involving a high level of activity and a variety of positions.
  • Ability to travel between assigned clinic locations
