About The Position

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing and organizing the exam room for patient treatment, notifying clinical staff of patient presence, obtaining medical history, measuring vital signs, and recording information in the patient's chart. The role also involves evaluating schedules, reminding patients of appointments and medication lists, ensuring equipment representatives and vendors have proper badges and do not interfere with patient care, adhering to the practice's mission and policies, utilizing electronic health records, and performing other duties as needed. Job quality requirements include accuracy, attention to detail, timeliness, organization, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Dependability in attendance, punctuality, ability to follow instructions, and meet deadlines are essential. Effective and professional communication with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers is expected, along with positive, respectful interactions and maintaining patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. Compliance with Accrediting Agency, CMS, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations is mandatory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certification
  • Good communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • CMA or RMA certification required
  • Ability to make logical decisions and solve problems
  • Communicate clearly and proficiently
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk
  • Visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of a computer, telephone, and other office equipment
  • Ability to make frequent judgments and respond to routine problems
  • Ability to make occasional judgments and respond to disasters or emergencies, actual events, or drills

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and organize the exam room for the treatment of patients
  • Notifies appropriate clinical staff that patient is present
  • Obtains medical history, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records in patient’s chart
  • Evaluates schedules and reminds patients of appointments and to bring a list of all medications
  • Ensures that equipment representatives and/or vendors have appropriate badges and do not interfere with patient care or confidentiality
  • Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice.
  • Utilizes electronic health records
  • Performs other duties as needed
