This position involves escorting patients to exam rooms, assessing patients per clinic protocols, obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaint, updating medication lists, and verifying allergies. The Medical Assistant will also update the patient’s medical and social history, prepare patients for examination, assist as necessary, and ensure ordered test results are available for Practitioner review. Responsibilities include sending patient letters, maintaining patient records, obtaining consent for procedures, collecting and preparing lab specimens, assisting providers in procedures, utilizing aseptic technique, cleaning instruments, and maintaining knowledge of medications and their administration. The role also involves documenting medication administration and tests performed, formulating teaching plans, providing age-appropriate care, scheduling further testing, tracking follow-up labs, and responding to emergency situations. Additionally, the Medical Assistant will ensure exam rooms are safe, manage patient flow, explain delays, record phone conversations, maintain knowledge of lab policies, perform quality controls, monitor equipment, check for outdates, inventory supplies and medications, and monitor refrigerator temperatures. Office responsibilities include answering phones, interacting professionally with patients and families, completing incident reports, performing equipment checks, and stocking supplies.
