Vascular Medical Assistant
About The Position
Vein & Artery Surgical Consultants (VASC) is seeking a motivated and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced vascular specialists dedicated to providing high-quality care to patients throughout South Texas. Our Medical Assistants play an essential role in supporting physicians, coordinating patient care, and ensuring an exceptional patient experience. We are looking for individuals who are professional, dependable, eager to learn, and committed to delivering outstanding service. The Medical Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support to physicians and advanced practice providers. Responsibilities include patient intake, documentation, patient education, medication refill processing, coordination of care, and assisting with daily clinic operations. Travel between VASC clinic locations may be required based on operational needs.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced specialty practice environment.
- Proficient computer and EMR skills preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Valid Texas Driver License in good standing.
- Must be listed as a covered driver on personal automobile insurance.
- Reliable transportation for travel between clinic locations when needed.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including obtaining vital signs and patient histories.
- Utilize the practice triage process to support patient care and communication.
- Review and update medical, surgical, and hospitalization histories within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Process medication refill requests according to established practice protocols.
- Answer incoming calls and document comprehensive patient messages.
- Provide patient education and communicate treatment instructions clearly and professionally.
- Learn and follow practice protocols related to laboratory results, imaging results, and patient follow-up.
- Assist with insurance, billing, and patient payment processes as required.
- Administer injections, including subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intradermal injections, in accordance with training and practice standards.
- Maintain exam rooms, medical supplies, and equipment to support efficient clinic operations.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and patient-centered work environment.
- Travel to other clinic locations as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
