About The Position

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA, CNA, EMT) to provide basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. This role involves continued training and offers opportunities for professional and interpersonal development through an MA career ladder program. The Medical Assistant will support providers with clinical duties such as taking vitals, medication and allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history, virtual health, and point of care testing. Administrative duties include scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check-in/out, prior authorizations, and transportation facilitation. This position may require floating to other offices based on business needs, offering variety and collaboration across multiple teams and communities. Additional responsibilities and career advancement are available through a clinical ladder program.

Requirements

  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • All required credentials to be maintained throughout employment.
  • At least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office preferred.
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education.
  • Experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.
  • Conducts vitals, outside medication reconciliation, outside allergy reconciliation, screenings, patient history and virtual health.
  • Conducts point of care testing including quality control and documentation.
  • Assists providers with in-house procedures as needed.
  • Provides administrative support including scheduling, chart prep, referrals, check in/out, prior authorizations and transportation facilitation.
  • Floats to other offices based on business needs.
  • Collaborates across multiple teams and communities.
