The Medical Assistant (MA) works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients. The MA will conduct patient interviews and complete all required screenings, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information in patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The MA will also draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. May also perform EKGs, bladder scans, or other approved procedures. Also prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and ensures exam rooms are stocked with supplies needed for patient care activities. The MA may perform administrative tasks such as registering and scheduling patients for appointments and procedures, processing incoming faxes and records to be sent to HIM, sending outgoing faxes, answering phones, and performing pre-visit tele-health patient calls for data collection. The Medical Assistant with Advanced training will administer medications and injections within scope per facility policy.
