The Medical Assistant provides general front and back office support to professional staff, escorts patients to exam rooms, and maintains clean, neat, and well-stocked exam rooms. This role requires knowledge of medical front and back office procedures, provides quality phone service by scheduling patients or referring callers, and answers patient phone messages promptly. The MA maintains accurate patient information and ensures charts/paperwork are filed correctly. Under the direction of a Provider, the Medical Assistant performs duties related to patient examination and treatment, potentially being assigned to a specialist. The MA takes a proactive approach, utilizing resources to serve the patient population. They perform clerical support duties including receptionist, telephone, scheduling, message management, and data input. The MA uses knowledge and skill to provide appropriate care in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, protocols, and Arizona validated competencies. Working in a team model, the MA aims to improve the patient's experience, enhance communication and access to care, and support processes that improve patient satisfaction.
