About The Position

Under general supervision, performs both front office and back office duties to include related support services. This role assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring all medical assistant tasks are completed efficiently. It involves patient care, administrative tasks, and maintaining medical supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Knowledgeable of personal computers.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association.
  • Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
  • Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office, ensuring timely and efficient completion of medical assistant tasks.
  • Coordinates referrals and patient communication.
  • Administers injections and assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures (e.g., EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, waive testing).
  • Assists with medical examinations within the scope of practice.
  • Obtains patient medical history and vital signs, ensuring quality metrics are documented in compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares for and participates in internal/external audits.
  • Maintains inventory of medical, immunization, and operating supplies.
  • Ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned; stocks medical supplies in exam rooms.
  • Registers patients, updates information, and enters demographic data.
  • Verifies and activates appropriate patient insurance plans.
  • Ensures accurate posting of encounter data to appropriate funding/insurance plans.
  • Completes end-of-day reconciliation reports, ensuring cash collected matches system reports and is secured.
  • Prepares for the next day's clinic by identifying appointment types, preparing charts, updating proof of income, pre-registering patients, and screening for program eligibility.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, greeting patients and addressing concerns.
  • Assists other departments as appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
