About The Position

Western NC Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) committed to caring for underserved patients with purpose and integrity. They are seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to work three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) for 8 hours per day. Medical Assistants providing direct patient care may earn a quarterly bonus up to $500 by meeting or exceeding quality and productivity measures.

Requirements

• One (1) year as medical assistant in an outpatient health care setting
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and Electronic Health Records systems.

Nice To Haves

• Current certification as a Medical Assistant - highly desirable.
• Postsecondary technical course(s) helpful, but not required
• Medical Assisting education strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse
• Perform phlebotomy, and process specimens for patients of all ages
• Set up medical examination rooms, prepare and administer medications and vaccines
• Obtain vital signs and patient information
• Obtain EKG’s, assist with wound care and minor surgical procedures e.g., removal of benign cyst
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff
• Assist in administrative duties as needed, including handling calls
