Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records.
  • Strong communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn sleep diagnostic software.
  • Ability to lift and transport sleep study equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to handle medical equipment and computer systems.
  • Completion of an accredited Polysomnography Program
  • NY PSG license and/or CRT/RT license required
  • BCLS/CPR certification
  • All required vaccinations and immunizations
  • Strong technical skills and exceptional patient care focus

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, or diagnostic testing preferred.
  • Experience with home sleep apnea testing (HSAT/HST) equipment.
  • Familiarity with sleep medicine workflows and patient education.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills.
  • RPSGT certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and dispense home sleep testing equipment to patients according to physician orders.
  • Provide clear verbal and written instructions regarding proper use, setup, and return of home sleep study devices.
  • Demonstrate equipment application, including sensors, belts, and monitoring devices.
  • Verify patient understanding of testing procedures and answer questions regarding equipment use.
  • Schedule home sleep study appointments and coordinate equipment distribution and return.
  • Receive, inspect, clean, disinfect, and maintain sleep testing equipment according to infection control guidelines.
  • Download and upload sleep study data into designated software systems.
  • Review study status and notify providers of incomplete or failed studies requiring repeat testing.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Communicate with physicians, sleep technologists, and patients regarding study completion and follow-up needs.
  • Monitor inventory of sleep testing equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Assist with general clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
