Medical Assistant
About The Position
This role involves greeting and preparing patients for examinations and procedures, obtaining vital signs and medical history, and assisting providers with various medical tasks. The Medical Assistant will also be responsible for administering injections, performing lab procedures, maintaining accurate patient records in the EMR system, and providing patient education. Additionally, the role supports quality improvement initiatives and assists with administrative tasks such as scheduling and authorizations. Maintaining a clean and stocked environment, and adhering to safety procedures are also key aspects of this position.
Requirements
- Must have a CMA or RMA current certification
- 3 years of experience in primary care
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and critical-thinking skills
- Previous EMR/EHR experience with NextGen is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical protocols
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Greet and prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit
- Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures
- Administer injections and perform EKGs, venipuncture, and other lab procedures as needed
- Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed by the provider
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly set up
- Support quality improvement initiatives, including patient recall, preventive screenings, and care gap closures
- Assist with scheduling, referrals, and prior authorizations as needed
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
