The Medical Assistant performs foundational clinical duties under direction while developing proficiency in clinic workflows, service line expectations, and electronic medical record (EMR) processes. This role focuses on accuracy, consistency, and safe patient care. The Medical Assistant will complete clinical intake requirements, administer immunizations, collect patient specimens, and follow clinical policies and procedures. They will utilize the EMR for assigned tasks, use standard medical terminology, and demonstrate attention to detail. Effective communication with patients, providers, and team members is essential, as is accepting feedback and incorporating coaching. The role requires basic time-management and prioritization skills, the ability to identify and escalate patient concerns, and demonstrate respectful, patient-centered interactions. In psychiatric specialty clinics, the Medical Assistant serves as a liaison, troubleshoots pharmacy and scheduling concerns, ensures screening tools are completed, and administers long-acting injections. This role supports Variety Care’s accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and the commitment to the "Quintuple Aim" of healthcare reform.
