About The Position

Cowlitz Family Health Center is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to be the heartbeat of their healthcare team. This role involves working alongside compassionate professionals, providing essential support, and creating a welcoming environment for patients. The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a medical provider, including administering injections, rooming patients, taking vitals, recording chief complaints, and assisting with minor surgeries/procedures. The position requires regular interaction with patients and coworkers, displaying a friendly manner, commitment to service, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Requirements

• Must possess a valid unrestricted WA State Medical Assistant Certification.
• BLS/CPR certification upon hire.
• High school diploma plus successful completion of a minimum of one academic year of post-secondary education in a medical assisting program from an accredited educational institution.
• Proficient in medical terminology and medical office procedures.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn in-house programs, including EHR system.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a low-income, multi-ethnic patient population and relate respectfully and effectively to people of diverse racial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Must be a confident, self-directed individual who can work within a team as well as independently.
• Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, utilizing concise and comprehensive documentation with strong technical writing and record-keeping skills.

Nice To Haves

• Associates degree in medical assisting and/or certified medical assistant preferred.
• 1-4 years of previous work experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a medical provider.
• Assisting Physician/ARNP or RN with direct patient care.
• Administering injections.
• Rooming patients.
• Taking vitals.
• Recording chief complaints.
• Assisting with minor surgeries/procedures with a medical provider.
• Interacting regularly with patients, coworkers, and various other people on a day-to-day basis within the medical clinic.
• Displaying a friendly manner, a commitment to service, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
