Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 3 years.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (in-person, not web-based).
  • Two letters of recommendation (one must be from a physician or supervisor who has personally observed your clinical work).
  • U.S. citizenship (or eligibility to work on a federal military installation).
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain a base access ID.
  • Up-to-date immunizations (Varicella, MMR, Tdap, Hepatitis B, annual flu) and TB screening.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, general data entry).
  • Comfortable wearing required PPE (gloves, mask, eye protection, fitted respirator).

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and screen them using standard questionnaires per clinic protocol.
  • Prepare the electronic health record and other forms before each visit; have backup paperwork ready in case of an EHR outage.
  • Review upcoming provider schedules to flag gaps, avoid unnecessary visits, and keep the team workflow moving.
  • Participate in daily team huddles and communicate clearly with providers, patients, families, and other departments.
  • Use MHS Genesis, Care Point, and Secure Messaging to enter patient data, support population health metrics, and follow up with patients.
  • Schedule appointments, prepare patient correspondence, and handle other administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Help orient new staff and keep the clinic environment safe and organized.
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols, including universal precautions.

Benefits

  • Steady, weekday schedule with all federal holidays off.
