About The Position

The Acute Spine clinic, is now hiring an organized and efficient Medical Assistant to work at our clinics in Boise and Nampa! This MA position will support an established physician in a fast-paced high-volume clinic. The Acute Spine team treats the following conditions: neuropathic pain, joint pain, inflammatory and osteoarthritic pain, complex regional pain syndrome, chronic neck and back pain, and cancer related pain. Our board certified surgeons and neurosurgeons dedicate themselves to providing quality care for a wide range of conditions involving the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. They guide each patient through an individualized treatment plan with skills and knowledge that enhance recovery at every level. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcareer Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA).
  • New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
  • Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Support a very busy and established physician.
  • Work 1:1 with the physician and Patient Service Representative in a small clinic environment near the physical therapy clinic (Nampa).
  • Work out of the Boise Pain Care Center with other clinical staff (Boise).
  • Serve a specialized patient population requiring coordinated care, timely assessment, patient education, procedural support, and ongoing communication.
  • Collect medical history.
  • Help with chart prep.
  • Referral review and tracking.
  • Conduct prior authorizations.
  • Set up for procedures.
  • Communicate with patients who may not always be understanding and still be able to offer a gold standard of care.
  • Have an interest in the spine and nerve field, and helping others who can present with more challenging diagnosis.
