About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Florida is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join their team in the Tallahassee health center. This role is integral to the organization's mission of providing exceptional sexual and reproductive healthcare. The position will primarily support front office operations, including patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and customer service. The selected candidate will receive cross-training to perform back-office Medical Assistant responsibilities as operational needs require. Employment is contingent upon a Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• A minimum of one (3) year of experience or equivalent.
• Experience in dealing with the public.
• The ability to learn ultrasound, procedural assistance and AB lab as well as other skill enhancements at the discretion of the affiliate.
• Ability and willingness to primarily support front office operations while completing cross-training for back-office Medical Assistant responsibilities.
• Must have a strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals and responsibilities of Planned Parenthood.
• Excellent organizational, communication and sound decision-making skills.
• Must have a commitment to efficiency and quality.
• Must be comfortable when discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy options.
• Ability to recognize and function appropriately in sensitive situations.

Nice To Haves

• Medical care and reproductive rights experience helpful.
• Previous experience working with Microsoft Office suite is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient intake, including medical and social histories, and perform STI screenings and point-of-care testing.
• Educate patients in a non-directive manner on birth control options and pregnancy-related services, supporting informed decision-making.
• Ensure exam rooms are properly prepped and sanitized between patients, and assist with basic clinical tasks and lab work in accordance with medical standards.
• Provide excellent patient service aligned with Planned Parenthood’s values of respect, equity, and inclusion.
• Accurately maintain patient records and documentation while upholding confidentiality and compliance standards.
• Support the daily operations of the health center through cross-functional collaboration, flexibility, and accountability.

Benefits

• Hourly compensation range for Medical Assistant: Starting at $20.00/ hour, commensurate with experience and local market conditions.
