About The Position

The Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep our clinics running smoothly. The Medical Assistant’s task list includes, but is not limited to: Greets and rooms patients in a prompt, friendly, and professional manner to prepare them for their visit. Performs clinical intake interview with patients to include health history, allergies, and reconciling medication lists. Obtains vital signs as needed. Accurately updates patient’s electronic medical record. Completes narcotic counts. Assists patients as needed with escorting their belongings, walking, and transfers. Orders lab tests under the direction of the provider and per company protocol. Obtains limited lab specimens such as urine, saliva, blood, and nasal swab collection. Prepares lab samples for transport. Ensures proper storage of biohazardous materials. Cleans exam rooms and supplies between patient visits to maintain infection control. Generates patient informed consent forms, reviews forms with patient, and obtains patient signed consent for injections or procedures. Prepares injectable medications and assists with clinic injections as needed. Dispenses prescriptions and/or over-the-counter product samples as directed. Manages inventory and stock medications and supplies; assists with packing, stocking, and transport of supplies within the clinic. Assists with maintaining a clean, safe, and functional clinic environment, which may include addressing minor, non-clinical facility needs as they arise. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Complies with organizational and HIPAA policies and regulations to ensure patient care is kept confidential. Cross trains and works in other areas of the clinic to support departments and staff as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work well whether alone or as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous medical/healthcare experience preferred.
